Layers ...

Hello my lovely friends and visitors, I hope your weekend was a good one and you have a lovely week ahead. I’ve been playing with another new stamp. I was hunting for a certain stamp set hoping it was on offer and it was when I found this wee cutie in the sale section too, it was an impulse purchase, a happy one though. Anyway here is a wee card I created over the weekend ...

He's a wee handsome beastie
Lots of lovely layers but still good to post
He really is wonderfully quirky
I added a clear overlay where his glasses lens are,
it makes his glasses look more realistic

Created for me and especially for these Challenges
Colour Crazy Challenge #2 Anything Goes

Creatalicious Challenge #13Anything Goes
Dies R Us Challenge #89 kids cards
Optional twist: Something New – my stamp
Penny Black & More Challenge Something new: the cat stamp
Try It On Tuesday Challenge  My Favourite Things: stamps and watercolours

Here’s a quick how:

1. I stamped the cat onto a white snippet which I heat set then die cut into the banner.
2. I coloured the image with Brusho watercolour crystals, adding layers of watercolour and then drying with a heat tool or naturally before adding another layer of colour. I don’t have Brusho watercolour orange I mixed up the red and yellow to create a ginger for the puddy cat.
3. I went through my patterned papers and found this lovely set which has a blue, orange and buff colour pallette. I chose three of the papers and cut the first to fit the card blank and two more layers smaller by 5mm each side. I used my Tim Holtz distressing tool to roughen all four edges before gluing them onto the card. One of the papers is on a piece of foam as I wanted lots of depth and texture.
4. Once the stamped cat was thoroughly dry I coloured the background with blue watercolour and left that to dry thoroughly too. I then added more blue watercolour beneath the stamped image so that he isn’t floating in the middle of the paper, he is sat on a carpet lol!
5. Once the stamped banner was completely dry I added white acrylic paint dots to his eyes, to give them light and when that was dry I used a Sakura sparkle pen to make his spectacles look like glass/plastic.
6. I decided to use three different embellishments for this card so I used natural hemp to infer a ball of wool which puddy cat had unrolled, a bead which is a ball, and a star frisbie. Pet cats we have had in the past have loved frisbie’s, they are great for them to chase across the garden, and I even managed to train one of them to bring it back for me to throw again lol!

I really hope you have enjoyed my wee whimsy and fun card, thankfully I don’t think the cat is too ‘cute’ in style and I know it’s going to be a good stamp for friends and family. Yes the cat isn’t too cutesy style but the bow tie is marvellously cute! Thank you so much for taking the time to visit and comment. I really do appreciate it and I hope you get some time to do what you love to do soon ttfn Karen x
