12 Tags of 2015, September by the skin of my teeth lol!

Hello my lovely friends and visitors, I hope your week is going well.  If you want to know how and what you go here: Tim Holtz 2015 September Tag.

For very obvious reasons this will be a mega quick post as I really wasn’t sure if I was going to get this finished in time and the paste is still damp, even though I’ve heated it a couple of times, grr, lol …

I love it!  And I had awesome fun creating it but I'm determined to get it done earlier in October!

I’m also very lucky that this also fits the following challenges
Eclectic Ellapu Purple Team Challenge use stash that is at least six months old: my alcohol inks must be more than five years old and it was awesome fun to play with them and learn some more new techniques from the talented Tim Holtz
The Artistic Stamper Challenge Things with Wings I wanted to enter the current challenge so when I saw Tim’s tag I knew I could use my Artistic Stamper butterfly stamp set!

I used my Noor stencil especially for this challenge as it’s a perfect match.

The one day I needed it to be warm and for my paste to dry!  It’s still wet but it is drying very slowly and that makes the colours pop even more!  Thank you so much for taking the time to visit and comment.  I really do appreciate it and I hope you get some time to do what you love to do this week ttfn Karen x

Crusading with snippets Mixed Media style ...

Hello my lovely friends and visitors, I hope your week is going well. I've another entry for challenges to share with you today.  I've several snippets: stamped BGs, embossed card, another dress form die cut and very old textured paper that I decided to use for a challenge entry and here it is …
A normal A6 fold for a change!

Created for me and especially for these Challenges
Allsorts Challenge #330 Numbers
Quirky Crafts Challenge #20 Quirky Sewn with Love
I chose the August colour palette as it’s my favourite!

 Unruly PaperArts Challenge
Coffee & Cream colour scheme I added a little pop of red – hope that’s allowed

Uniko Stamps Challenge Autumn/Fall I used fall colours so hope that is allowed

All of these bits were in my boxes to be used up and when I was looking through it to see if I had anything I really wanted to use for the challenges I had a rare light bulb of how I could use them together and make my folders of images and backgrounds a little easier to close.

I added much more colour to the stamped snippet on the LHS because I wanted it to be richer colour wise.  The brown and red snippets of card had been dry embossed with my TH sewing folder but I wanted to make the numbers pop more.  Looking around I had my pot of Americana acrylic paint out and without even thinking about it I poured a little onto my craft mat and used my pinkie to add it to the areas I wanted to pop. Unfortunately I then reached up and brushed my hair out of the way and I got told off for that one, lol, when we had company the next day lol!  Thankfully most of the acrylic paint came out when I washed my hair but I did have a nasty little knot for a few days so I don’t recommend doing this.

Today is your last chance to enter my candy!  It is open world wide to both new and old Followers.  I would love it if my current Followers were to add their name too, for the post with the link you need to go here.   Thank you so much for taking the time to visit and comment.  I really do appreciate it and I hope you get some time to do what you love to do this week  ttfn Karen x

Throwing it all at a tag and loving it ...

Hello my lovely friends and visitors, I hope your week is going well.  Yep back with a second very quick post as I’ve another project I want to enter certain challenges.  This tag is one of my favourite September creations.  I wanted to stretch myself and my skills too.  I am in love with the end result of this tag and if I could only ever create one style for the rest of my life then this is the style I would choose and here it is …

I chose the January 2015 colours this time

Stamplorations Stencil Sunday #10 Mixed Media Challenge
That’s Crafty Challenge Girls Will Be Girls

Vintage Stamping Challenge #36 Tic Tac Toe
I chose monochrome; flowers & metal

I’ve just realised that I used the Stamplorations butterfly mask again lol!  Okay I am not going to explain every single step I took as it would take me a long time and several posts, lol, so if anyone would love to know how I created this tag leave me a comment and I’ll do a tutorial in October.  To be quick and brief I drew around the butterfly images with a colouring pencil then used my SNATs to colour the butterflies.  Once dry I re-positioned that mask and then started playing with acrylic paints, Perfect Pearls, and more SNATs.  The SNAT pops even more when added over acrylic paint and that was a huge surprise!  The butterflies were stamped with old chalk IPs and then fussy cut out.  I coloured the flowers and metal embellishments with acrylics and other products.  The bird is one I made with my MS mould: simples not but fun and educating: heck yes!!

I was hoping to reach 60 Followers with my candy and I am overwhelmed and over the moon with the amount of you lovely new Followers and Friends that I now have: thank you, thank you, thank you!  Your support means more than you would ever know.

I’ll be back again tomorrow with another project or two and I'm hoping to get my Tim Holtz tag created before the end of the month too, I'm busy right now and loving it!  Thank you so much for taking the time to visit and comment.  I really do appreciate it and I hope you get some time to do what you love to do this week  ttfn Karen x

Measuring a Stitch in Time ...

Hello my lovely friends and visitors, I hope your week has started well and you had a lovely weekend.  I’ve still got my nose down trying to finish DT projects as well as continuing to sort my room out.  So I dug into my background crusading folder and created this lovely card …

An A6 tent fold of course  lol!
This all started out because I want to incorporate numbers and sewing!

Created for me and especially for these Challenges
Allsorts Challenge #330 Numbers
Card Mania Challenge CMC#72 Pastel Colours
Cards und More Challenge #141 No DP/PP

 Paper Sweeties Challenge #35 colours

I chose the August colour palette as it’s one of my favourites!

I’ve been very lucky with this challenge.  I love ombre and have been obsessed with it for a while and this is my first attempt!
Uniko Stamps Challenge Autumn/Fall I used fall colours so hope that is allowed

I am so happy I got to use this background as I created it earlier in the month after I had seen some of the challenges I love to play along with.  I grabbed my Clarity Dress Form stamps and my Clarity ruler stamp and created a random background with my Butterscotch AIP and Meadow AIP (Adirondack ink pad).  I dragged the stamped Butterscotch in to colour the dress forms and left to dry.  I watered down the Butterscotch to create a lovely soft peach shade and coloured the background with it.  Once dry I used my Currant AIP and stamped the buttons and hearts across the page, drawing the ink inwards to colour the buttons: simples lol!
Once again this will be a quick post because we’re busy and I’m struggling a bit.  Unfortunately the piper always has to be paid if I have some fun, but I don’t mind as I will be playing with inks and paints and stamps lol!

I have candy that is open world wide to new and old Followers.  I would love it if my current Followers were to add their name too, for the post with the link you need to go here.  Thank you so much for taking the time to visit and comment.  I really do appreciate it and I hope you get some time to do what you love to do this week  ttfn Karen x

Multi and mixed media crusading again ...

Hello my lovely friends and visitors, I hope your weekend is going well.  The next couple of posts will be quick ones, lol.  We had my lovely family visit us yesterday and today both of us are moving very slowly and rather painfully, lol, got to laugh or else I’ll cry or whimper with the pain lol!   Here is what I have to share today …

Lots of yummy techniques and much fun to create!

There are a lot of techniques used to create this tag.  If anyone would like me to do a step by step I am happy to do so in future.  But for today I am trying to keep my post and computer time quick and short.  As I’ve said I'm happy to share how I used the SNATs, acrylic paint or the friendly plastic – just let me know and I will get a tutorial typed next month and add to my tutorials page.

This tag was created with a Spectrum Noir AquaTints background snippet from my background crusading box, the poppies were stamped, coloured and cut out and have been in the other crusading box – the one with images waiting to be used!  I must try and stop creating bits and not using them!  I have huge piles of backgrounds, images, and embellishments I’ve created but not got around to using yet.  So I used items from both of my crusade boxes, as well as a really made by me embellishment and another really old embellishment too!  Yay!!!  So glad to be shrinking these piles a little each day lol!

I have candy that is open world wide to new and old Followers.  I would love it if my current Followers were to add their name too, for the post with the link you need to go here. Thank you so much for taking the time to visit and comment.  I really do appreciate it and I hope you get some time to do what you love to do this weekend  ttfn Karen x

Crusading part two with AquaTints, EP, H2O shimmer and snippets ...

Hello my lovely friends and visitors, I hope your week is going well.  I have nearly caught up with upcoming DT duties and I’ll be putting the final touches to the final project tonight and then I just need to photograph, edit, type the posts and tutorials before I can start stamping and playing again.  I'm hoping to be able to be back on Sunday because I'm missing playing with my inks paints and stamps for family, fun, challenges or just for me and I'm organising my craft room too!
Last night whilst waiting for one of my DT pieces to dry I realised I had a little time spare which meant I could put something together for the September Challenges.  I used one of my backgrounds some stamped images.  I’ve several of the cone flowers left over from when I was playing with these stamps early in the summer.  I’ve still not stamped all of them yet, because I reach for this stamp every single time.  Anyway last night I wanted to add a little shimmer to the flowers and I had the H2Os to be out waiting to be organised and here it is …

Another A6 tent fold - I'm obsessed with this size and fold, good to post too!

Created for me and especially for these Challenges
Allsorts Challenge #329 Sparkle
Card Mania Challenge CMC#72 Pastel Colours
Cards und More Challenge #141 No DP/PP
Sweet Stamps Challenge Anything Goes

This card was created mainly with Spectrum Noir AquaTints and card snippets from other projects.  I stamped and embossed the stems and leaves with WOW verdigris EP and coloured the stems and leaves with a mix of the lime green with a little of the dark blue ink (I need/want to do more experiments with colour mixing SNATs, the amount of colours you can blend is unbelievable: the sky is the limit!).

The flowers were stamped with SNATs which I painted onto the stamp and then immediately stamped them.  The background was created by mixing a little sky blue SNAT with glycerine to create a beautifully smooth background (using a little glycerine makes creating beautiful blended backgrounds so easily).  I coloured the background and put to one side to dry.  In fact the background was a complete accident, my experiments with SNATs, they work in a similar way to Distress inks.  Whilst the card was drying I carried on colouring other images.  The water from washing out my brush dripped onto the card and I was horrified and so upset!  I panicked and grabbed a piece of cotton towel to mop up when I realised that the water had acted like a faux bleach technique.

I’ve awesome faded spots on a background!  The background took a couple of minutes to create and it looks just as good as those I have done with Distress inks in the past.  It is so much quicker and so much easier for my hands than it is with Distress inks: oh happy days!!!

On a crusade ...

Hello my lovely friends and visitors, I hope your week is going well. Sorry I’m not around much again.  I’m trying to get my DT creations finished, craft room organised, and upcoming events means that I’ve not had any time to create this week.
When I first started I found a folder of my stamped or stencilled backgrounds and another folder of stamped; coloured or created by me images/toppers too!  Ever since then I’ve been on a mission to use them all and empty those two folders.  Today’s card was one I finished before the chores got in the way and here it is …

Simon Says Stamps Monday Challenge Stamp and Blog Hop
Sparkle N Sprinkle Creative Challenge September Anything Goes
The Shabby Tea Room #260 Swirls and Twirls
Try It On Tuesday Challenge Add Metal: I hope gold leaf counts

I’ve found so many papers and toppers that I need to be strict with myself and try and use them up.  I create more backgrounds than I need and those are my go to folders.  No wonder my paper stash is not shrinking as fast as I would like it to lol!  I think the background on this card was created about a year ago, when I first acquired the Picked Raspberry, Salty Ocean and Mowed Lawn DIPs.
I covered the chipboard heart with ‘paper’ I created by adapting the Caught in Crystal Technique.  I created a puddle of floor polish onto a piece of acetate, and then added the pearl inks, Perfect Pearls, Fantasy Fibre and Film and some tiny pieces of gold leaf flakes.  The left over pieces of the fibre, film and leaf were too small to be of use for anything else but because they were expensive to purchase originally I became very frugal with them.  The chipboard heart is a lot older than that.
Putting this card together was a quick job as everything was waiting to be used, I love it when it works so effortlessly!  I have candy that is open world wide to new and old Followers.  I would love it if my current Followers were to add their name too, for the post with the link you need to go here.  DH will be drawing the winner of the Candy at the end of the month too.

I’m hoping to be back creating and sharing by next week and will pop over too all my lovely new Followers blogs to thank them and check out your awesome creations too.  Next weeks plans depend on how I feel and the state of my back after the family visit.  I am doing my best to stay warm and trying to make sure my sinus don’t become an issue again, I miss my mum and brother a lot and am looking forward to seeing them.  Thank you so much for taking the time to visit and comment.  I really do appreciate it and I hope you get some time to do what you love to do this week  ttfn Karen x

Stencil, butterflies, yarn and VOS ...

Hello my lovely friends and visitors, I hope your week was good and you have fabulous weekend plans.  I am still in the midst of getting my craft room sorted, there is still much I need to sort, more details below.

Whilst sorting that crafty stuff I found some bits and pieces I had forgotten about, naughty!  I really wanted to create a card for some of the current Challenge so I made a little space on my desk; it is covered with the bits I'm trying to sort and ongoing DT projects.  I just realised there is no stamping on this card: sacra bleu!   Thankfully I have several snippets left over from backgrounds I created when my new stencils arrived and an NBUS embellishment too.  Here is today’s creation …

I think you can see what and why I was inspired: pink and stencilling = happy me!

Thankfully I can move around the room much more easily now because there are less piles of stuff on the floor yay!  I have, amazingly not (lol!), nearly filled the big bookcase and because it is sorted I’m hoping it will be a lot easier for me to find what I want when I want or need it.

I have to go now as I have want to get cards created for tomorrow’s Christmas Card Club.  I need to get my DT creations started, finished, photographed, edited and typed before I can get back to the tools, crafting stash, waiting to be altered and not sure what I want to do with may be binned piles that are still in evidence, a lot of them there are too!  I'm trying to pace myself as much as possible but I woke up today in more pain than usual so I may, once again, have to curtail Christmas Card Club, grr, that is the preferred choice than ending up in agony for the rest of the weekend and early next week.  Every day when I get up I have to make a choice and that choice has many different parts to it.  So can I do ‘stuff’ today, if I do ‘stuff’ today how will it impact on the next few days, do I have to be careful or very careful because the pain is always there and I have to figure out if doing stuff will make it worse or can’t do stuff because it will make the pain worse and it’s already bad?  Fibromyalgia is one rotten thing to suffer from.

For this card I most definitely went female orientated because I really didn’t think about it lol!  I always go for the reds, pinks and purples when I acquire new colouring mediums.  They are my go to happy colours.  However I now want to re-create this card with a different stencil in shades of blue.

I love autumnal shades and tomorrow what I plan to share with you is most definitely autumnal colours and there is a fair amount of a colour I don’t normally use on it too lol!

A mixed media make over: I let the dark stuff out ...

Hello my lovely friends and visitors, I hope your week’s going well – nearly the weekend my lovelies and I hope you all have fabulous plans to play with your tools and stash.
I have to warn you in advance I went quite dark on this one.  It came about because I had created a similar card but I felt it was missing something and I was not happy with the end result.  Then I saw the current challenge at the Anything But Cute blog and I thought to myself why not remake it, and here is what it looked like before …

And here is what it looks like now …

As I said above I allowed myself to go darker and scruffier than I normally would.  So that I would like/love the end result I used lots of orange, purple and yellow to stamp and colour with too.  I tapped green DIP onto a flat acrylic block and used that to colour the background around the flowers.  I also tapped orange, purple and yellow inks onto the block and splattered the coloured panel with those inks and I’ll be doing much more of that in future!

I added more SNAT colour to the stencilled background to make that much richer in colour too.  I coloured some roses and daises with my SNAT’s and used red and yellow acrylic paint to colour the daisies.  I stamped the butterflies onto the reverse of some left over scraps too and I darkened them with some brown and gold – yep I said it and I actually used it, brown!  Brown works beautifully with the colour orange, I recently discovered lol!
